About
So you’ve heard about the Swazi1000 and you have maybe considered coming along, but the info you have received only comes in bits and pieces!
So this is what you need to know:
We believe that Swazi 1000 is a God inspired project. In 2OO8 we received word that the Lord was about to send out mass numbers of students into Africa. We decided to trust the Lord for a 1000 people. This was confirmed a day later by Isaiah 60:22 that says:”And the least of you shall become a thousand, and a small one, a mighty nation, I the Lord will do it swiftly in its time” A week after this confirmation we stumbled across a small little community in Bulembu who was desperately in need of our help.
So rather sooner than later, FTLT, a Pretoria based missions training organization, and Tuks Missions, an university based missions organization, joined hands in organizing a life changing outreach; one that will be written in the mission history books of South Africa. Needless to say, our first attempt was a massive success! Why? Because we were only obedient to what we believed God called us to do. And we will continue to boast about God’s grace and power and for allowing us to join Him on His mission to the world. Last year we had 358 people sharing in the experience and this year we want to give 500 more the opportunity.
What is Bulembu?
Swaziland is one of the poorest countries in Africa, suffering tremendously from AIDS and hunger. This beautiful country is in desperate need of intervention from God – with us as His tools. Bulembu is an ex-mining town, left desolated and without hope until God stirred the hearts of a group of missionaries to pour their lives into this precious town and to transform it into a place that testifies of God’s grace as seen in Jeremiah 29. Much has already been done and for us to be part of this, is a huge honour.
What will we be doing in Bulembu?
Signing up as a Swazi Volunteer will automatically include you as being part of the team serving a much bigger cause. A cause with the end dream of having 2000 child orphans taken care of before 2020. It is also in 2020 that they want Bulembu to be self sustainable. Since last year, we helped this cause by helping them to establish a dairy farm. We painted literary the whole community and renovated old miners’ houses into such a state where new children can move into a brand new house!
This year: This year we plan on renovating another 10 houses completely into orphan houses. We will build all the furniture ourselves and we will use all the skills the students bring along into developing this beautiful little community.
Ministry: Great emphasis will be laid this year on the ministry part. With so many orphans and workers without hope, a simple smile makes a difference. Through sports ministry, women’s ministry, babysitting, workshops and many more projects as well as evangelization, will have a lasting impact on both us and them.
Personal development: During our two weeks in the mountains, you will have ample time to take your relationship with God to a next level. In the evenings there will be praise and worship sessions, group discussions, fellowship sessions, quality time in prayer as you trust the Lord for clear purpose and direction in your own life.
A general survey under last year’s volunteers proofed that God once again changed lives. As we greeted one another, tears were streaming down faces, friendships were formed, but most of all, we saw as much change in our own communities as in the Bulembu community.
Our challenge is for you to commit yourself and give it all away for the sake of those who don’t have what we have. See you in Bulembu!
